Dice throwing on your nokia 5800 or N97

Although the graphics is not very polished it’s a really fun application to play around with. It really shows what potential the s60 v5 devices has. Lets just hope that some really good accelerometer enabled applications arrives soon.

Nokia messaging soon available for the 5800

As quoted from the official homepage:

You can access up to 10 of your personal email accounts.
Each email arrives in its own mailbox, and you can access all emails in one place.

Nokia Messaging supports thousands of leading global and local email providers

Unfortunately it’s not available for the 5800 yet, but it will be shortly. It sure seems better than the built in email client.

Use your phone and gmail as an online notepad

Here’s how i use my Nokia 5800 and Gmail as a way to store my personal notes.

  1. Configure your email account using your nokia 5800. It’s super simple, just enter your email, login and password and use IMAP4. The phone will figure everything else out.
  2. Open the default web browser and add a bookmark with your own email in the following address format: mailto:your@email.com (see screenshot below)
See here for more information about customizing it with a predefined subject, etc.
  3. Enter Settings->Personal->Home screen->Shortcuts and add your bookmark to one of the shortcuts. This will make it extremely easy to access your “notepad” quickly.
  4. Configure your email account and tag your notes accordingly to your demands. E.g. label all your notes automatically with a special label for quick access.

Thats how i do it :)

Phone torch lets you light up your life!

I’m probably not the only one that occasionally uses my mobile phone as a flashlight. Most often it’s enough with just the backlight illumination from the screen but once in a while you need some real power lightning! :) Phone torch uses the camera led light and produces a really bright light.

An application must have! Download here: http://dev.meh.at/

What’s a modern mobile phone without google maps? Google maps is the perfect application for those times you need to find that special place or you’re simply hungry and need to find a good restaurant. If that’s not enough there’s always google latitude which allows you to follow your friends live using the gps in their mobile phones.

Screenshots? Yes please!
